HARD TURNING
Hard Turning Offers Cost Savings, Flexibility, and More
Hard turning is used for materials with hardness values over 45 HRc, though it’s most commonly used for materials in the 58-68 HRc range. It uses a single-point turning tool to produce grooves, contours, and high-precision threading in a single chucking. Benefits of Hard Turning
Cost Savings
This process can be performed without coolants, eliminating the cost to acquire and dispose of this material.
Faster Turnaround Times
Metal removal rates are significantly faster than grinding, which speeds up production times and minimizes machine downtime.
More Environmentally Friendly
Turning centers use less electricity than grinding machines, which reduces costs. Leftover metal chips can also be recycled, unlike the swarf created by grinding.
